The position of Camp Nurse is one of the most important jobs at camp. The Nurse will report directly to the Camp Director and is expected to work in conjunction with and in cooperation with the Summer Program Director. The nurse must have a current, active RNABC registration-proof of registration to volunteer.
A. General Responsibilities
- All volunteers are expected to live on site and be available for the entire length of camp. The Nurse will be housed in St. Luke's (the Infirmary). The Nurse is encouraged to be involved in the activities of camp and will be welcome at staff meetings and devotional times.
- The Nurse must be available for emergencies at all times and indicate his/her where-abouts on the chalk board outside the infirmary.
- The Nurse must be prepared to be part of a team serving in a Christ-centred camp whose purpose is to minister to the whole camper - body, mind, and spirit.
B. Specific Duties
- Welcome to participate in the daily life at camp and is encouraged to be very visible with all the campers. May be asked to help with specific duties at camp to help with the overall flow of camp.
- Expected to attend all meals with the campers
- Expected to attend the first staff meeting of the week and welcome at all staff meetings.
- Make sure that all camper & staff/volunteers health forms are accurate at registration and collect all medications.
- Make sure that the Camp Director and the Summer Program Director are aware of any health hazards in camp.
- Report any noted swimming restrictions to the Waterfront Director.
- Administer all individual medications or treatments as required.
- See to the cleanliness of the infirmary and dispensary, including the bathroom.
