Staff Position - Life Guard

The position of Life Guard is one that helps insure that the waterfront area is safe for campers and staff.

A. General Responsibilities

  1. All staff are required to participate in training, ice breaking games and registration. All staff and volunteers are expected to live on site and be available for the entire length of camp. The Summer Program Director is involved in the activities of camp and will be plan and direct all staff meetings and attend all devotional times.
  2. The Life Guard must have a willingness to work as part of a team and to serve in a Christ-centred camp whose purpose is to minister to the whole camper - body, mind, and spirit.

B. Specific Duties

  1. Performs weekly swim tests to evaluate campers' swimming abilities.
  2. Lead waterfront activities for campers.
  3. Ensure the safety and enjoyment of campers at the waterfront.
  4. Reports to the Waterfront Director.
  5. Assists with staff training, in particular waterfront emergency procedures, and waterfront activities.
  6. Assist the Waterfront Director in any way in order to achieve the success of the goals and responsibilities of the waterfront program.
  7. Participate and assist in all other program activities.
  8. Attend all staff meetings and devotions .
  9. Attend all meals with the campers.
  10. Ensure campers are properly prepared for the weather with sunscreen, water bottles and hats while at the waterfront.
  11. Teach canoeing, rowing and assist with all boating activities.
  12. Boater's license an asset.
