Bursary Position - Life Guard

The position of Life Guard is one that helps insure that the waterfront area is safe for campers and staff.

A. General Responsibilities

  1. All staff are expected to live on site and be available for the entire length of camp. The Life Guard is encouraged to be involved in the activities of camp and will be expected at staff meetings and devotional times.
  2. The Life Guard must be prepared to be part of a team serving in a Christ-centred camp whose purpose is to minister to the whole camper - body, mind, and spirit.

B. Specific Duties

  1. Attend all meals with the campers
  2. Performs weekly swim tests to evaluate campers' swimming abilities
  3. Attend all staff meetings and devotions
  4. Lead waterfront activities for campers
  5. Ensure the safety and enjoyment of campers at the waterfront
  6. Reports to the Waterfront Director
  7. Assists with staff training, in particular waterfront emergency procedures, and waterfront activities
  8. Assist the Waterfront Director in any way in order to achieve the success of the goals and responsibilities of the waterfront program
  9. Teach canoeing, rowing and assist with all boating activities
  10. A boater's license is an asset
