Dinner Auction raised $10K! by Dianne Marks Many thanks to these folks: the 130 guests who supported the dinner on Feb 27th, the wonderful volunteers and Ambrosia's catering. The event went over really well. It was a big success and we look forward to our 4th annual dinner next February, 2005. During the evening Camp Columbia was presented with a generous bequest from the Clare Marten Estate. Clare was a long time supporter and tireless volunteer during the 1980's. She was a Board Chair, Chiefy, Sporty, Crafty, to name a few volunteer jobs she took on. Clare believed strongly in the role that Camp Columbia played in the life of children and bringing them to know Jesus. Peter Parker was a terrific MC and also our live auctioneer. Peter made it fun to part with our money, all in the name of a good cause. We netted $10k from that evening and everybody went away with either a gift basket or two or some other "have to have" item. Churches and church groups included all the ACW groups that gave baskets anonymously plus Crofton and Westholme ACW, St. Paul's Nanaimo ACW, St. John's Coble Hill, St. Peter's Quamichan Mother's Union, St.. Andrew's Cowichan Station, St. Peter's Campbell River, St. Stephen's, St. Dunstan's, St. George's and Christ Church Cathedral.
