NEWS - 10th Dec 2001

On December 6, representatives of the Board presented a proposed budget for continuing Camp. This budget was approved, subject to careful monitoring of the registrations and cash flow. It will be presented to Diocesan Council for their approval on December 13, 2001.

NEWS - 7th Nov 2001

As the result of lower than anticipated registrations, particularly the music camp and the canoe trips, the income from Summer 2001 registrations was significantly below target. Unfortunately, savings from a reduction of Camp's expenses did not make up the difference.

This information was presented to the Synod Finance Committee at the end of August. The Board of Camp was asked to present a viability report for the beginning of December. This report must include several scenarios including sale, mothballing, and a tighter budget with several decision points to ensure more control of the flow of cash.

Camp Columbia is launching a stronger and more effective marketing program. The plan includes more contact with our parishes, and events such as a dinner and auction at Christ Church Cathedral, and a 55th Anniversary celebration. A Wall of Fame for significant contributors will be unveiled in Heneage House in 2002.

The new 2002 budget has been completed. A Long Range Capital Plan is well underway. The report will be presented to Synod Finance Committee by December 3, and a recommendation will go to Diocesan Council.

Early registration in 2002 will ensure camps run, and are not cut from the Summer Program.. Please note that Camp Columbia is open for business all winter, and accepting bookings for the facility for 2002 and beyond.
